ON EDITORALS!
EDITORIAL is an integral part of Journalism! It is indeed a great column through which an Editor communicates with his beloved readers. He expresses his greetings, reviews his activities, shares his feelings and emotions with his seen and unseen friends, known and unknown admirers, analyses the happenings in the society that are useful to the readers.
Atleast, I honestly believe in this communication. I hope these Editorial pages in the YOUNG POET are eagerly awaited by the members as I observe from their responses.
While at this my mind goes to the pre-Independent days, when the Indian society was woken up to the call of freedom fighters through the sharp Editorials in the great News papers such as the Hindu, the Hindustan Times etc. Even today, many readers go to the Editorial page on receiving the News paper or a Journal first and then only proceed to other pages!
I remember in my school/college days, how seriously we took up the Hindu editorial for improving our knowledge on current affairs, improving our language, improving our style of communication through loud reading of the same etc!
It is unfortunate that some of the newspapers and the journals have given up this column for their own reasons.
However, your YOUNG POET will continue the Editorial in the current format, including reproducing one of my poems relevant to the issue and I do hope the same will be quite interesting, inspiring and informing!
