Welcome to the amazing world of Young Poet's containing a treasury of poems!
FROM THE EDITOR.S PEN
My dear young poets and poetry lovers,
Heartiest greetings to you on the happy occasion of the YOUNG POETS CLUB OF INDIA entering its EIGHTH year of
successful existence and the current issue of the YOUNG POET in your enthusiastic and creative hands is the 33rd issue since the INAUGURAL issue of NOVEMBER 2000!
Only those who are actually in the publication domain can understand the intensity of the difficulties in the continuous
publication of a literary journal like this. There were many occasions when I felt like discontinuing the venture in view of the physical, financial and mental pressures but then, the anxious enquires and the tremendous enthusiasm exhibited by the young poets that sustain my activities in this sphere. Many an elder poet extending their moral support and the blessings they convey to the young poets make me to continue this publication. I do fervently hope that God will grace this, give us strength sufficient and the journal will continue to gladden your hearts and provide an established Forum to bring out the poetic talents of the young ones. On this happy occasion I extend my sincere thanks to every one concerned with the YPCI and its journal and solicit your continued support for quenching the thirst of the young talents!
I am indeed overwhelmed with the response to our online Edition from all over the globe and at some weak moments I use
to think of continuing only the Online Edition of the YOUNG POET which will enable me to be free from the financial burden I encounter issue after issue. I shall thank you to kindly let me know your views on this.
You would have observed from the August 2007 issue that the XXVII WORLD CONGRESS OF POETS took place in Chennai during 31st August and 7th September 2007 where world brotherhood and peace through poetry was attempted and fairly achieved. A detailed report on the Congress is published elsewhere in this issue. I am sure it will be quite interesting to all
our readers!
Birth and death are of course a part of the world. We have, therefore, to reconcile to the death of our beloved ones- but with a very heavy heart. In the last one month a few deaths that have taken place have shaken me to a great extent and that is also one of the reasons for the delay in bringing out this issue!
Irrepairable loss has fallen on the literary world due to the most unfortunate deaths of the great Tamil scholar- thinker, educationist, poet, musician- Pulavar Neela. Bhagavan of Kanchipuram, Dr. Srinivasa Rangaswamy- a renowned English poet, an acknowledged literary critic- a close associate of the YPCI of Chennai, Padma Bhushan Dr. Krisna Srinivas, an Internationally acclaimed English poet and the Editor of the POET-a monthly poetic journal in English in its 48th year of publication , the Young Poet Mr.Mohamed Shuaib of Bangalore who was a regular contributor to your journal and Mr. Y V Sharma of Prodattur, AP who was a sponsor to the Young Poet in its earlier stages. We all pray for their souls to rest in peace and convey our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved members of their family. A separate feature is published elsewhere in the issue.
Soon the new year 2008 will dawn and we welcome the new year with a solemn prayer that the year brings peace,
pleasure, prosperity to the entire world! Let universal brotherhood and harmony permeate all through the universe! Let it translate all our noble dreams to reality!
Together we go, we grow, together we prosper, together we share our knowledge, joys and sorrows!
Wishing you all, all the best till we meet through the next issue!
Yours in literary service
