ELDERS LOOK AT THE YOUNG POET
As time passes issue after issue are being released. Congratulations to the Editor for his dedication and steadfastness.
Even though Nos. 2 & 3 together, matter remains the same -young minds cherish English literature to get nectar for the readers to read and enjoy. As usual 13 poets of Akshara Vidyashram of Cuddalore occupy the chunk of the issue. The credit goes to Ms.Brinda Srinivas who was in Dalhousie ( HP) shifted to Cuddalore, made bees to fly here and there to get honey and serve to the readers.
"Tsunami' poem again. Perhaps the thought is haunting even after 2 full years and six months are over.
Elders can not contribute their poems to YOUNG POET as it is exclusively meant for the poets less than 25 years of age.
That is the right age to groom them. "Catch them young" is politician's slogan which you have adapted for creativity.
Terrorism is haunting the world be it USA, UK or India.
Poets love nature and is clearly described by Aravind in "Rain is gain".
Tender hearted people are poets is amplified by Arjun Prakash of Bangalore. We get tears in joy and sorrow. How many
people differentiate these in their life?
We do not value trees which give us medicine - .Oh! Nature. is one such poem praising the benevolence of land on earth. If nature can't survive how can we survive? Back bay reclamation of land in Bombay is a clear example of man's greediness to occupy the sea's place also.
Balaji's poem .India. is a patriotic poem.
Ashwin Raja's .creativity. has surpassed all in this issue. It is evolution disaster. To imagine arms growing out of ears is beyond anybody's guess.
Bhavana must be a young girl. Rhyming is in tune with her age.
Deepti of Bangalore is again a manifestation of love for nature.
Death of Saddam also can create such an impact on the Indian poet is beyond my imagination. Saddam was another Hitler
and so God's hand laid on him as 'hang him, not leave him'.
Muslims of Bangalore write more English poems than Kannada. Our Dr. Fakhruddin is editing an online magazine which
is worldwide read . Mind is the greatest - is it not true it flies faster than the rocket?
"Women's day' is the description of a day's life in a woman. Woman at house plays more roles.
What is happening in India is the scene reflected in Washington also. When a girl dies on road, at least in India , we
feel and help her. Not in US. All are mechanical features there.
'Bloodshed' is the feeling of a young mind. Elders will agree with her expression.
S. Lakshmi is a regular contributor. Hope can not be lost even if majority of people are cunning and selfish.
"Bird" is a lovely imagination of Priya of US.
On the whole, the YOUNG POET gives an old man of 71 years, young and vibrant thoughts while browsing the creative
minds of the young, hope of the future India!

We received the Young Poet on our reopening day As usual; The book was pregnant with meaningful poems. All the poets
have taken good effort to compose good poems. All the 25 poems are beautifully secured like a wonderful garland. Out of 25 poems 13 are from our school I feel very happy and we were so proud to read all the poems in the morning assembly.
Arjun Prakash had revealed his emotions in his poem 'Pearls of emotion'.
Ashok kumar's poem is rather a prayer to God to nurture the nature. If all of us develop this feeling nature will give double blessing.
Aswin Balaji's poem .India. tells about India. It is quite meaningful. Aswin Raja's poem is to be appreciated 'What if my bones were in a museum'. His thought itself is different. When people donate their blood, eyes, kidney, he wishes his bones to be preserved in the museum.
Bhavana Venkata Subramanian gives life to his little doll and Minnie Mouse.
Deepti I.P. describes a conversation between the crow and the lawn. Here I remember the poem the mountain and the
squirrel'. The poem started in one angle and moved towards another.
In 'The death of Sadam Hussain', I see Devi's broad heart to excuse him and not to hang him. The punctuation mark in
Hang him not, leave him'. Instead of 'hang him, not leave him'.
Faquia wajid's poem 'Days to me and the greatest' is finetuned.
Jaya Lakshmi's poem women's day attracts any body. How nicely she describes the different roles played by woman it is
her fantastic poem.
'I am beside you not only to slap for your mistake.
But also clap for your success says the mother'.
Kamna Kathuria's poem .silence of guilt. shows the real condition of any accident.
S. Lakshmi' 'Hope for the best' gives hope to all the readers. We remember the poem. 'Ode to the west wind 'If winter comes can spring be far behind'
Narkavi's poem Air is too simple It is a good attempt. Priya Subramanian's,.The bird. brings the feeling when we have a bird.
When he is there he brings joy.
And when he leaves bring sorrow.
Still the violent Tsunami waves are ringing in our ears. It is not that easy to forget the Black day 26th Dec. Sagana,
Vishali and Varun depict it in the poem 'Oh sea dear sea'
Sai Sanjay is trying to put words together to form a poem.
'One Day' 'By Sharmista Duta expresses the joy of flying kite on a sunny day
Shrishti Sehgal's 'Envisage' gives a positive note. It ends with an optimistic feeling of never give up the hope. It starts well and also ends well.
Varsha's poem on poor animal tells about the tortures of all the animals.
Yuvaraj has composed a poem on Sun he addresses sun as his friend.
Your good effort needs hearty appreciation. It is not an easy job to release periodicals very regularly. I pray god to give you good support in all walks of your life.

The fragrance of seasoned air told me the arrival of the journal. Heart with loftiness over filled with excitement, which was out of control. Besieging family members around the infant journal renewed my excitement more. White paged journal, peace of eyes and crimson smile of lips symbolized my poems has been appreciated.

I recently came across the 'Young Poet' Journal. It was indeed astonishing to see how many aspiring poets the world
produces. It delights me to think that fresh minds are writing poems all over the world and people like you are taking pain and effort to publish so many poems of the children. I am also composing a poem - The child and the sparrow.

Thanks for YOUNG POET Feb & May 2007 issue. I need not repeat my oft quoted words that each issue is unique in its
own way. Your efforts are praiseworthy to bring budding poets under one banner providing them platform to voice their
spontaneous outbursts in verse form.
Poems are like flowers - beautiful and tender of different hues. In my opinion, poems should not be written on killers,
psychopaths and criminals - persons of - dubious character. There are one million topics under the sun to write poems. Why on Saddam Hussain? Better forget them make them sink into the abyss of oblivion. Do discourage budding poets from choosing such repulsive horrible topics.
With regards and best wishes.

I thank with all my heart for the latest copy of Young Poet. Indeed new giants and new paints add colour to poetry. Indeed your esteemed journal is doing a wonderful service for the budding poets. All power is for power mongers and what I could wish that your young poets become satirical poets as I am. A weapon to blow or show can be an open show to challenge the manoevering, manipulations and other social evils. If you could conduct workshops to train up your pupils once in three months or every month, then it may be guidance for the ardent poets. Of all the poems in this issue in AIR by Narkavi A But Co3 is an archaic word in English, I believe.
Simplicity is a virtue of life and a visual version is far better than auditory imagination I think. Any way, in course of time, any body can be a great poet like Ezra pound
With high regards

All poets are well-wishers with a sublime word. They have souls as expansive as the sky, as deep and energetic as the sea. Rhyme is a fish they catch with a fishing net in their minds. Their patience is rewarded, their indulgence amplified, when rhyme echoes bliss in contentment, wonder of achievement. The self styled poet is ever penetrating the depths of the soul, to proclaim a message of peace in the heart of cruel humanity and duel reality, poverty and riches. The work of the poor is thrust upon them from childish days, thus poetry too is a hunger for wisdom and poets have inherited the mantle to work from childhood days onwards. The message and meaning are spirited away in rhyme-loads on lorries, never intended to be accident- prone.
The delighted attention paid to the printed word is a Cindrella-felt honour, and each page canvases his own wonder.
However the reputation of each page each poem short-lived, short-loved, and is resting with hope in mundane reality, the fitting of the shoe as befitting rhymes reveals the true wonder. The tiny tots have immeasurable hopes, immense enthusiasms, immortal bliss when they are identified by Kings to adorn the palace page.

Young Poet is undoubtedly a platform for budding geniuses to grow with time as future Indian poets in English. I was delighted by some poems which are replete with deep insights into the world around we live! They are no children to say. They are in fact emerging writers.
But I have some reservations - that is not to go distinguishing their contributions or grade them on the basis of
their writings. Every poem is well-written, thought provoking, above all, amazing performance. Distinguishing them is wounding their hearts. I don't want to do it as a teacher of English.
Wishing the poetic buds all the best.
