              Humming Birds

Love is like a bird
It comes unexpectedly
And attracts you and pulls you in
By simply using a word or smile
He sings for you and mesmerizes you
He holds no boundaries
He is free
And he can easily brighten a rainy day
He is the one bird that is sought after and admired
The one bird that everyone wants for themselves.

But if you are not careful
You may scare him away
And he will move farther and farther away until
He seems almost untouchable
And though the bird is singing
He may not always be singing to you.

So you try to get his attention
But you are afraid

That he will skip away and not come back
Or that he will ignore you and
keep singing his song to some one else
And your feelings go unheard

So all you can do is
Admire the bird from afar
And pretend that he is yours
You look at him through a glass window
A window where you see him,
but he does not see you

This bird is mystifying
For he comes when he wants
And when he is there he brings joy
And when he leaves he brings sorrow
He stays far as long as he pleases

And then not caring if he breaks your heart
He flies away just as swiftly as he came
